The reciprocal of a nonzero number is one divided by that number. Reversing a rate also reverses what its units mean: threads per inch becomes inches per thread. Keep that interpretation with the result.
Turn a rate into spacing
Convert threads per inch into the distance from one thread to the next.
What 1/x means
1/x means 1 divided by the displayed number. For 8 threads in one inch, 1 ÷ 8 gives 0.125 inch per thread.
Try it · 8 threads per inch
Enter 8 as a plain number. The 1/x key works without units.
